CREATIVE HERBAL INFUSIONS - OLEO SKEWERS
***Not to be made with seafood of any type as the acidity from the citrus in the marinade will cook the seafood in the process***
OMG YES, WE'RE ALREADY AT THE RECIPE NO NEED TO SCROLL FURTHER!
We're not a blog where Karen tells you all about her grandmother's lemonade and her weekends at their cottage when she was a child, we go straight to the point.
2 tbsp Meofill Oleo Organic Herbal Blend
1/2 cup Canola oil
Juice of 4 fresh oranges (1 1/2 cups)
Juice of 3 fresh limes (1/3 cup)
2 tbsp Agave Honey
3 garlic cloves, crushed
2 tbsp chicken broth powder
Salt & Pepper to taste
Step 1 : Make the marinade
In a large bowl, combine the Meofill Oleo Organic Herbal Blend and the other marinade ingredients and mix vigorously to dissolve the chicken broth powder in the mix.
Step 2 : Add your protein
Add your choice of chicken, pork or tofu cut in cubes and/or the vegetables in the bowl of marinade and coat them evenly on all surfaces before sealing it with (reusable!) plastic wrap and putting it in the fridge.
Step 3 : Chill out!
Let the marinade work it's magic and infuse your meat between 1 to 6 hours, the longer you let it the more intense the citrusy flavours will pop out!
Step 4 : Prepare your skewers
In a large pan, put a bit of water and let your skewers steep for an hour before cooking, this will guarantee they won't burn during the cooking!
Step 5 : Assemble your skewers
Create your own mix of protein & vegetables on your skewer, be creative!
Step 6 : Cook it like a chef
Sear your skewers evenly on each side on high heat to caramelize the exterior (2-3min) and then transfer to an indirect heat surface for the rest of the cooking (8-14min depending on type of protein) to keep the protein tender and juicy.
