How does Butterfly Pea work?

The butterfly pea flower contains antioxidants such as proanthocyanidin, which promotes collagen growth and the elasticity of the skin. This plant also promotes brain function and memory by the Acetylcholine it contains. The tea made from this plant is often believed to help treat anxiety and promote blood flow.

Benefits & Uses of Butterfly Pea

Apart from its lovely color-changing abilities, the very attention grabbing blue petals are actually rich in anthocyanins, the same compounds found in blueberries, tart cherries and red cabbage.

It is also worth mentioning that blueberries are considered to be a super-food, so this very intense pigmentation has been previously linked to beneficial nutrients. Some doctors would say “the darker the color, the higher the content of anthocyanins”.

In traditional Asian medicine, the Butterfly Pea has been regarded as a stress-reliever.

The tea made with this herb may also have sedative qualities and it is also great to consume in order to reduce light internal inflammation as a post-meal drink.

Butterfly Pea may also help boost your immune system, help with weight loss and to aid in detoxing the body.
